ACOM
Advanced Certification for Orthopedic Massage
Advanced Certification in Orthopedic Massage (ACOM) is a 150-hour program which prepares licensed massage professionals to specialize in the treatment of injuries and chronic biomechanical conditions. Learn to take your skills to a new level with some of the finest instructors in our area.
This unique program, now in its 6th year, blends orthopedic treatment techniques (Cyriax-style injury evaluation and treament and Muscle Energy Technique) with gentle and sophisticated structural/myofascial techniques. Each body of work is very useful but combining them allows practitioners to become radically more effective problem-solvers. We are committed to an assessment-driven approach, analyzing postural balance, details of skeletal alignment, range of motion, and tissue mobility to orient our treatment choices. We have designed the program to help students understand and effectively work with the most common postural patterns, alignment problems, injuries, and other problematic conditions they will routinely encounter in treatment-oriented practice.
This program is taught by Susan Rosen and Richard Polishuk. They have learned from masters in the field (Ben Benjamin, Judith Aston, Rich Phaigh and others) and have maintained busy clinical practices for decades. They love bringing their experience, training, and teaching skill to this program. Their warm and welcoming style has been enjoyed by many who have taken their classes.
ACOM is perfect for the recent graduate or seasoned practitioner who is ready to move forward and take a giant leap towards success in their practice. You’ll gain a greater sense of confidence and an incredible knowledge base for treating client injuries.
"I feel that I have become a more confident and a more effective LMP. I used to feel intimidated by a new client with structural issues. Now I feel like saying, "Bring it on!"
SL, graduate of ACOM
