Muscle-Specific Deep Tissue Techniques for the Hips and Legs

The legs are often treated by bodyworkers for the least amount of time in a session. Yet they support the upper body and are under tremendous compressive force, whether we're moving or stationary. In this class you will learn specific, potent, and effective deep tissue techniques to release the muscles and fascia. Some of the specific muscle groups you will work with include the deep calf flexors, the anterior compartment, the quadriceps, the tensor fascia latae and IT tract, the gluteals, the deep level rotators, hamstrings and adductors. These are simple, straight forward, muscle-specific techniques that can be immediately applied in practice. Body mechanics will also be a focus of the class, as well as proper use of the hands, elbows, and forearms to save wear and tear on the joints.

Brian Utting LMT, founded the Brian Utting School of Massage on Seattle in 1982; his 1000-hour professional licensing program was considered one of the best in the USA. Brian has been teaching internationally since 1990. He designs his classes so that the students truly "get" the material and can immediately apply it in practice, rather than just be exposed to it. He teaches with a rare blend of knowledge, passion, anatomical precision, humor, common sense, and depth. He was awarded the AMTA's Robert N. Calvert Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2009 and was inducted into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame in 2014.
