Instructor: Brian Utting, LMT June 30, 2018
 7  CE hours $175 by June 16, after $200

Connective Tissue Massage (Bindegewebmassage) is a precise and elegant way to work with the body's dermatones and autonomic reflexes to reduce corresponding autonomic changes in specific organs. The technique was developed in Germany although it is less known in the US.

Starting with the sacrum, specific cutaneous zones are stroked with a dragging pressure in a precise and orchestrated way that can "trick" the body into responding as if specific organs or organ systems are being massaged. In response, the target organ vasodilates and its smooth muscles tissue relaxes. This can be quite effective for treating menstrual cramps, reducing symptoms of migraines, asthma,, and intestinal cramping. In addition CTM can subtly affect flexibility and reduce pain or tingling from tightened tissue. It has a calming effect and can be used for general parsympathetic relaxation as well.

In this class, you will learn the "basic build up" which primarily focuses on sacral and pelvic areas and their corresponding target organs and the "first follow up" which focuses on the lower back and rib age.

Brian Utting LMT, founded the Brian Utting School of Massage on Seattle in 1982; his 1000-hour professional licensing program was considered one of the best in the USA. Brian has been teaching internationally since 1990. He designs his classes so that the students truly "get" the material and can immediately apply it in practice, rather than just be exposed to it. He teaches with a rare blend of knowledge, passion, anatomical precision, humor, common sense, and depth. He was awarded the AMTA's Robert N. Calvert Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2009 and was inducted into the Massage Therapy Hall of Fame in 2014.
